When there’s something missing in the Oscars Nomination….
Where are Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig? Hello, Academy Awards???
Guys, kamu inget film Barbie kan? Yekali lupa. Secara itu film baru keluar tahun lalu, booming banget, dan jadi perbincangan di mana-mana. Bahkan jadi salah satu film terlaris ya tahun lalu. Kamu pasti juga nonton deh. Yakan? Ya nggak?
Nah, dengan semua recognition yang ada di balik Barbie, film ini nggak dapat recognition yang sama dari penghargaan film paling bergengsi di dunia, which is Oscar. Yep, jadi kemaren Academy Awards ini baru aja ngumumin nominasinya kan. Mulai dari beberapa kategori utama kayak Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, yang gitu-gitu. Sampai kategori teknis kayak Best Costume Design, Best Cinematography, Best Fim Editing, dll semuanya diumumin. Nah nggak tahu kenapa, film Barbie yang jadi fenomena tahun lalu ini dikit banget masuk nominasi, guys. Bahkan, pemeran utamanya, Margot Robbie, nggak ada di nominasi Best Actress. Nama Greta Gerwig selaku sutradara juga nggak ada di kategori Best Director. Barbie cuma masuk di kategori Best Picture sama Best Adapted Screenplay, dan cuma ada Ryan Gosling di kategori Best Supporting Actor, dan America Ferrera di Best Supporting Actress, terus sisanya ya kategori teknis.
Menyikapi hal ini, Ryan Gosling alias si Ken sih kecewa banget, guys. Oh nggak deng, disappointed would be understatement kalau kata Ryan. Dalam keterangannya di IG, gini nih kata Ken, eh kata Ryan: “There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film. No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement. Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history. Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees.”
Jadi ya gitu, guys. Academy Awards ke-96 aka Oscars 2024 bakal digelar 11 Maret mendatang. Fim Barbie sendiri berhadapan melawan Oppenheimer, Poor Things, Killers of a Flower Moon, dan film-film bagus lainnya. Siapa nih jagoan kamu di Oscars kali ini, guys?
